Community Radio Station of City Montessori School Lucknow, has been playing a pivotal role in social development for the past five years and it has initiated to arouse social consciousness for environment. The grand launching of radio project 'Vasundhara Rahasyam' was held today at the CMS Gomti Nagar auditorium which will broadcast radio programmes on environment, bio-diversity, hearth, water and hygiene, disaster management, soil, weather, atmosphere etc. throughout the year. Chief Guest, Dr Kamlakant Dwivedi, Advisor & Head, National Council for Science and Technology communication, inaugurated the radio project 'Vasundhara Rahasyam'. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of the Scientist, Ms Ujjwala Tirky, National Council for Science and Technology Communication and Director of Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, Dr R Sreedhar. Eminent Guests present on the occasion at the CMS Gomti Nagar auditorium profusely commended this unique venture of CMS.
Earlier, the ceremony started with 'All Religion and World Peace Prayer'. The students of CMS Mahanagar presented prayer dance 'Mother Earth' and spread the message to all present over there to be associated with nature. Students clad in colourful dresses represented planets very effectively. Besides, volunteers associated with CMS Community Radio presented scintillating cultural items and mesmerized the audience. The volunteers from Malhor, Ashrafnagar and Makdumpur presented items 'Hum Nahin Katenge' and aroused the consciousness of people to save the trees and nature. Snake charmers of Sapera Basti, Ashrafnagar presented 'Sapera Dance' and were highly acclaimed by the audience.
Addressing the press at a press conference held after the launching of radio project 'Vasundhara Rahasyam', the Chief Guest, Dr Kamlakant Dwivedi, Advisor & Head, National Council for Science and Technology communication said that he was really very pleased with this project. CMS has done a commendable work of awakening people for conserving environment. Dr Dwivedi extended his best wishes to CMS for this radio project and said that the ever decreasing condition of environment and climate change are the matters to be pondered over seriously as they are threatening the very existence of humanity.
Speaking at the press conference, Ms Ujjawala Tirky, Scientist of National Council for Science and Technology Communication said that it’s a matter of pleasure that an academy has taken up the serious task of awakening the society on environmental factors. She said that deteriorating condition of environment and climate change is a matter of grave concern today which cannot be taken in a light mood. Dr R Sreedhar, Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia addressed the journalists and said that despite electronic media gaining popularity, radio has maintained its significance and is easily connected with all strata of society. These programmes of social utility may play a vital role in awakening the people of all categories.
Dr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder of CMS and renowned Educationist, said that this Community Radio Station always lived upto the expectations of its objective with the tremendous support of students and teachers of CMS and it will set a record in arousing environment related consciousness. Dr Gandhi said that till now both the radio stations of CMS have been working for heralding scientific outlook and development in students to bring about world unity and world peace but now its role has become more significant due to its association with environment awakening drive. Dr Gandhi emphatically said that schools play an important role in establishing an ideal society as schools are the lighthouse of society. He said that under this radio project, CMS community radio will manifest these concepts which would motivate the entire society. He said that this radio band would act as a true friend of society.
Mr V. Kurian, Head, CMS Multimedia Division, informed that the founders of CMS, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr (Mrs) Bharti Gandhi started Community Radio Station on 90.4MHz in the year 2005 as science and technology is significant in the modern era. CMS community radio station has chosen some villages of Lucknow like Makdumpur, Ashraf Nagar, Malhor, Khargapur, Lonapur and Lalai Khera to suggest the solutions for various problems related to health, employment, food and nutrition, customs and traditions etc. RVPSP decided to commence its important project through CMS community radio station after observing the great services rendered by the CMS community radio station. Mr. R K Singh, Head, CMS Community Radio informed that the project 'Vasundhara Rahasyam' will broadcast one programme daily, for 365 days (one year) based on environment and other subjects. The scheduled programmes in the project would be prepared on weekly basis for every subject, under the supervision and guidance of subject experts.
Mr. Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS informed that CMS has been broadcasting various educative programmes through 90.4MHz of FM Radio for the past 5 years in which several educative and welfare oriented programmes have been broadcasted with the guidance of career counsellors, eye specialists, naturopath, neuro surgeons, child psychologists and education experts. Mr Sharma said that City Montessori School is the first school of its kind which as two latest technology equipped radio stations at its Gomti Nagar and Kanpur Road campuses.
